Checking Account Switch Kit

To help guide our members through the process of switching checking accounts, we’ve created an easy-to-follow switch kit. Just follow these 3 easy steps:

  • Open your new account: by visiting your nearest local Beacon Credit Union branch.
  • Make the change: Transfer your direct deposits and electronic withdrawals from your old account to your Beacon checking account. Fill out the Direct Deposit Transfer Form available in our switch kit for your employer or other depositor (such as Social Security). Fill out the Automatic Payment Request Form and send one form to anyone you currently have automatic payments set up with (credit card companies, utility companies, etc.).

With the Direct Deposit Forms remember to include:

  • Direct Deposits
  • Retirement or pension plan deposits
  • Government Direct Deposits

Print an Automatic Payment Transfer Request Form for each merchant/payee you currently have an electronic withdrawal set up with, complete it and send it off. Don't forget to include:

  • Mortgage payment
  • Insurance premium payments
  • Gas Company
  • Water Company
  • Telephone Company
  • Cable Company
  • Internet Services
  • Credit Cards/Debit card withdrawals
  • Close your old accounts: Make sure to leave enough money in your current account long enough to allow any outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals to clear. Once you are sure there are no more pending transactions, complete the Close Account Request Form in our switch kit and mail it to the existing financial institution to officially close the checking account.
